MECKLENBURG COUNTY ANNOUNCES CLOSINGS FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

Charlotte, NC — Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28, for the Thanksgiving holiday. This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Collector, the Elections Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Agency.

The Health Department will be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28.

The Department of Social Services Care Line – 704-336-CARE (2273) – operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children and elderly or disabled adults.

The Main Library and all branches will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, and will be closed on Thursday, November 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Center (Detox) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Solid Waste administration offices and the Foxhole Landfill will be closed on November 27 and 28. All staffed recycling centers and Compost Central will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, and open November 28 on a normal schedule.

Park and Recreation administrative offices will be closed November 27 and 28 for Thanksgiving. Nature Centers, Ray’s Splash Planet, aquatic facilities, and recreation centers will all be closed Thanksgiving Day, November 27. Limited holiday hours will be in effect Friday, November 28 for Splash Planet (10 a.m. -6 p.m.) and aquatic facilities (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Parks will be open regular hours on all days.
